This project was based around finding a use for design, I researched the impact of stress after taking a Philosophy class that explored Happiness as a topic. I found that the physical impact of stress and the environmental causes for it are rampant in urban areas. I then chose Charlotte, NC, for my proposal because of its opportunity to also reconnect damage caused by its roadways.
Combat the scarring that major road infrastructure has on cities and the barriers it creates.
Create a space that can address the negative impact of living separated from nature and its aspects.
Research showed the negative impact of places devoid of green space and how they generate stress which has been proven to have dramatic negative health impacts.
Root Park circulates through different activity spaces that can be adapted over time focusing on serving as a free activity space for the city to alleviate the Urban Pressure.
A program I found most inspiring was that a meditation garden which acted as a leisure space. A space that acted as an escape from the city in the city.
