This project was a submission for the AISC steel competition. It served as a staging for the Los Angeles homeless, where physical and mental care was made available, as well as potential housing and education, to provide all the necessary facilities for someone to reestablish a life in human society.
How can this project benefit health on various levels from personal to societal?
The environment around this project was very important for getting the homeless population to feel safe enough to make use of the space.
How to best set this facility to be effective by organizing the program for keeping the circulation relative to the stage in rehabilitation.
Creating an understanding for the surrounding communities needs was paramount for this project and diagramming how the facility would interact was helpful.
With a large and unorthodox structure, I found it relevant to include a functional egress diagram for proof of concept.
Understanding the program separation in combination with the floor layouts that the patrons would use.
